Battle Grip Continued

Working on the foreground dude, I'm thinking he is going to be another character I've worked on instead of a random stand in. Letting different possible stories between the two ruminate right now.

Hangouts Art Murder!

This is why Google hangouts with my friends is bad for my productivity, Or is it!?

So background to this. I was working on my Battle Grip illustration, but I saw my friend, who we shall call cuddles! Drawing this cute girl and I screen caped it from hangouts and started to just GOoooooooo. And here is where I ended up before getting back to MY work hah.

uploaded for your amusement.

if your asking yourself why mouth shoulders that sing, you should be asking why not? =P

Daily Sketches

Hey hey, was show and telling a page from my 'sketchy sketchbook' so since I scanned the image thought I'd throw it up here with some minor paraphrased commentary.

So basically I was playing with visual flow; inferred lines and lines of continuity. This being body parts/elements that follow an imaginary line. These lines lead the viewer through the image and keep the eye moving within the image (ideally).

I don't really feel these sketches are engaging, so I'm hoping to figure out how to pop some of that life into them with some more work/experimentation.

So the first page was actually a land/city scape that morphed into a few people sketches. The second page is a figure inspired by a guys hair and bird that I saw getting off the bus. and another sketch that is an I'm tired I list spirals today.

That's it hah, thanks for reading!

Master Painting "Katarina Succubus" Update

I worked a double shift today so not much time to work on anything today. Just a small update tonight.

I'm still finagling wit the proportions and angle relations.

Master Painting "Katarina Succubus"

This master painting is of Jeremy Vitry's Katarina Succubus for a Riot Contest. You can find his work on artstation.

I didn't get this one done, and I can't stay up until 1am today as I have work early tomorrow morning. So here is what I got done. I started at 9pm and stopped at 11pm. I did actually take process stages this time. But I'm not going to comp them together until I'm done with the copy. So here is the most recent state of the copy.

A quick note on my observations while doing this master copy. There were lots of concentric squashed ovals at an angle these are seen through lost and found, and inferred lines. For example, Katarina's daggers and the top of her hair contain an oval flow to them. I think this lends to the "life" and motion/dynamism of the work. I also noticed there were a lot of tangential horizontal and vertical lines that could be referenced between the major shapes of the different parts. You can see some of these lines being painted over in my sketch.

The numbers on the side are a note for myself, it is the size of my viewing window for the reference image.

Thanks for viewing!

Master Copy "Elf Prisoner"

Hey it's been a while! Just did a master painting of an artists work that really inspires me to draw each and every day so thought I'd post my copy and a plug for Saara Mäkinen. You can find more of her great work at deviantart, artstation, and her portfolio so give it a look, after you look at mine of course! =P

Didn't take me long, started around 10pm finished at 1am maybe I was in the groove!?

Here is some loose stage development, sorry it's kinda far in hah only dawned on me to take stages later.
